Just finished The Judge From Hell and it’s officially one of my fave kdramas. My only real complaint is that it should’ve been longer than 14 episodes and the offered deal should’ve been to just continue killing forever. Becoming a human is lame and stupid she should stay a demon.

Just wanna take a moment to talk about how much I adore Vaggie's verse in "Whatever It Takes", especially this line.

Because it makes so much sense after finding out Vaggie's backstory. Unlike the other residents in the Hotel, Vaggie wasn't someone that needed Charlie to be redeemed. Vaggie had always been a good person. She was a real angel who put down her weapon and refused to kill a child, even if it were a demon.

Lute saw Vaggie's mercy as a weakness and flaw that made her undeserving of her halo. Vaggie didn't need someone who saw and believed in the good in her. The problem is that she was seen as sinful just because she extended her kindness towards someone supposedly damned for eternal punishment.

Meeting Charlie made her realize that she wasn't alone. Vaggie is an outcasted angel for showing mercy to a demon, while Charlie is a ridiculed demon for believing in redemption for damned sinners. Charlie understood how it felt to be punished for her kindness, but still persevered with who she is, and so Vaggie does too.

One of the things I love about their relationship is that Charlie didn't "fix" Vaggie. She saved her, yes, but Vaggie had always had that good in her that she acted upon despite the consequences even before meeting Charlie. Such a pure soul like Charlie deserves someone whose kindness isn't dependent on their romantic relationship. It's why Vaggie saying that she believes in Charlie's dream aren't just empty words for the sake for supporting a loved one. Vaggie may be more realistic about it, but she definitely means what she says. She has saved a demon before, heaven's orders be damned. So she'll help Charlie save many more.

Vaggie isn't just helping Charlie with hotel just because she's being a good girlfriend. Well, she is duh but also they both just genuinely care about people even Heaven abandoned. That's why she and Charlie are partners.

Looked at my Dead Boy Detectives swap AU, decided that it could be better, and ran with it. So... here ya go.

(For those of you who need a refresher---it's an AU where Crystal and Niko are the ghosts and Charles and Edwin are the alive ones. "Dead Girl Detectives," basically.)

Crystal is pretty much unchanged from the original concept---she died in the 1920's, she was a psychic socialite with absent parents, and she acted like the quintessential spoiled wild-child while secretly being fascinated by detective stories. She died when she got possessed by David the demon, who puppeted her body around for weeks... until she finally managed to wrench back some form of control, threw both of them off of a building, and wound up getting sent to Hell. Now that she's out and living free as a ghost, she's doing her level best to leave her old self behind and be a better person---partly for herself, but also so she can prove that she doesn't deserve eternal punishment if Hell ever comes for her again.

Niko's still an anime geek from the 1990's who was an outcast in life, but her death circumstances are different. Instead of dying from the dandelion sprites, she accepted an invitation to a party in an effort to try and socialize more after her father's death... and she got killed in a prank gone wrong, trapped in an abandoned mansion that used to belong to Crystal's family. She probably would've even moved on if it weren't for Crystal showing up and helping her out, giving Niko a reason to stick around. Niko's doing better now, but she still hasn't really processed her feelings surrounding her death. (Also, her hair's still white---she just dyed it that way, and it's never changed even after she died.)

Charles is also pretty much unchanged from the OG concept---he's still an irresponsible witch who got possessed by David and lost his memories as a result---with the added detail that he's one of many incredibly powerful magical people who David's possessed, wrecked havoc with their powers, and killed, though Charles thankfully survived the ordeal thanks to the Dead Girl Detectives. Also, I'm fairly certain that Charles is not only well aware that he's bisexual and out, but he and David were almost certainly dating. Or at least hooking up.

Edwin's still a socially awkward comics nerd and shut-in, but I decided to just have him get the paranormal parasite as a way for him to get involved with Charles and the Dead Girl Detectives---though, instead of a dandelion sprite that's all about soaking up attention, it's a hornet-themed sprite that feeds on people's insecurities and self-loathing. I think that he still butts heads with Crystal a little bit, but his bookish, studious nature winds up becoming incredibly helpful to the team, and he gets along great with Niko and Charles. Especially Charles.

Now, after thinking about it, I realized that if I was going to do a four-way swap with our main crew, it would probably make sense to do the same with our supporting cast. So:

The Night Nurse---or Minerva Knight, as I've tended to name her in my AUs---is in the place as Port Townsend's resident witch, though her motives are pretty different from Esther's. She has no need for any spells of eternal youth, having stopped aging a while ago, and she considers herself the protector of Port Townsend, keeping the forces of the supernatural at bay from the mundane residents... even if that means occasionally sacrificing a child or two to keep some of the more unsavory beings satisfied. Needless to say, Minerva has a very skewed view of morality, and unlike her canon counterpart, she can't really be swayed to change her mind. She's scary.

Esther, meanwhile, is in the lovely position as the Crow Queen, a charming and campy trickster being who exists to wear fabulous, over-the-top outfits, rule over her little feathered darlings, and to be a menace to everyone she meets. Her whole deal with Crystal isn't exactly flirtatious, but it's enough to give Crystal a gigantic bisexual awakening. And whether or not Esther's really all that interested and is just fucking with her, she's a lot of fun, and she's definitely instrumental in helping Crystal realize more about herself.

Thomas (the Cat King, but we're calling him by his first name) is Charles and Edwin's landlord---the owner of a queer bakery who's having a bit of a quarter-life crisis and is therefore a bit of an asshole to almost everyone he meets. Despite how prickly he is, though, he has an energy about him that makes him automatically endearing to every single misfit teen in a fifty-mile radius, and he's less than enthusiastic about it. Deep down, Thomas doesn't really mind, because he is a pretty lonely individual (not that he'd ever admit it).

And lastly, Jenny is the Night Guard On Duty in the Afterlife Lost & Found Department---overworked, burnt out, and thoroughly cynical when it comes to the affairs of the living. She's convinced that all she really needs is the big case that'll get her a promotion to a much less stressful position, and tracking down the Dead Girl Detectives seems to be just the thing. Of course, she's not as dedicated to her job as she appears to be, and even years of working in the most depressing place in the universe hasn't fully worn her down.

And, uh, other than the fact that I'm gonna have to figure out a stand-in for Monty... that's what I got!

Ashlesha: The Villain Era Nakshatra

Ashlesha nakshatra can create poison to destroy their enemies. They also have the ability to restrain their destructive powers and hold poison within themselves. As I said in my previous post, Ashlesha embodies the demonic feminine and showcases qualities of the dark side of the feminine. But we need to understand that "darkness" is a spectrum and can be defined/portrayed in a variety of ways.

In this post I'll explore various tropes that Ashlesha natives portray on screen.

Peyton List, Ashlesha Sun plays Poison Ivy in Gotham

"The thing I love most about Poison Ivy is her walking that line between bastion of Mother Nature and psycho Eco-terrorist. She sees herself as the hand of Mother Nature. If Mother Nature were "God," then Ivy would be her "Jesus." She defends the defenceless nature of the world and truly believes in her cause. Maiming, mauling, and mutilating are extreme measures, but it's nothing compared to what irredeemable cruelties humanity's done to the world of nature. Ivy always sees the greater good as she punishes those who deserve it."— J. T. Krul (comic book writer)

This describes Ashlesha natives quite well. They truly believe that the people they hurt deserve it. The aspect of serving karma/justice is a very prominent one.

Poison Ivy has the following abilities:

Genius-level intellect

Manipulation of plants and toxins

Decelerated aging

Expert seductress

These can all directly be connected to Ashlesha. Being a Mercury ruled nak, these natives are naturally intelligent and their minds work very fast, given the mythology of this nak, their connection to toxins and poisons is a gift given to the Ashlesha native. Mercurial women often look very young/youthful and maintain this youthfulness well into their 30s and 40s and on. This nak's deity is Nagas, the serpent God and serpent connection in any nak is a strong indicator of potent sexuality and seductive energy.

Poison Ivy possesses a poisonous touch and is characterized as a "supervillain" or "antiheroine".

I had mentioned in my old post about how movies featuring Ashlesha women have a common trope of them being abused, gaining power through that violent experience and then using those powers to go after all the bad guys.

Similarly, Poison Ivy was a botanist who was persuaded by Marc LeGrand to assist him with the theft of an Egyptian artefact containing ancient herbs. Fearing she would implicate him in the theft, he attempts to poison her with the herbs, which are deadly and untraceable. She survives this murder attempt and discovers she has acquired an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases.

2. Jennifer Lawrence, Ashlesha Sun plays Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games

if you're familiar with the books or the movies you would know that there is a heavy emphasis on Katniss' resorting to manipulation to skew things in her favour, both on and off the arena.

She's competing in a survival reality show where tributes have to kill each other for the entertainment of the masses but she manages to turn things around in her favour through media manipulation, using everything to her advantage.

This emphasizes on Ashlesha's mercurial ability to play with perception and skew the narrative in their favour.

Katniss is an impoverished girl from the poorest district with no chances of winning but she relies on things other than brute strength to see her through the Games.

3. Barbra Streisand, Ashlesha Moon as Yentl in Yentl

This movie is about a girl who disguises herself as a guy to go to school. She falls in love with her male classmate and his gf falls in love with her (believing her to be a guy).

Claire had said in her Ashlesha video about how WLW themes in cinema often involve Cat yoni gals (Punarvasu or Ashlesha)

4. Catherine Deneuve, Ashlesha Moon in The Hunger (1983)

this is yet another very Ashlesha coded movie about a vampire (played by Deneuve) and her aging partner and the doctor he consults to help with his condition and the homoerotic bond that develops between these women.

the fact that Deneuve is playing a vampire (i've noticed Ashlesha playing demonic/monstress esque characters a lot) and that "aging" is a main plot point (vampires don't age) is vv intriguing since mercurials are the most "young/youthful looking"; Mercurials are essentially teenagers even as they grow older, they don't "age" the way most people do, not just physically but also mentally and of course, it wouldn't be an Ashlesha coded film without some WLWism in it.

A major reason why Cat yoni girls are drawn to other girls or to non-penetrative intercourse is because sex is vv painful for female cats. A male cat's penis is barbed, and these little spikes scrape along the female cat's vagina during copulation, making sexual intercourse vv painful for them. I have noticed that many Cat yoni women irl tend to have vaginismus or other conditions that make penetrative intercourse unpleasant or difficult for them. Making love to another woman or intercourse with a partner (male or female) that's largely centred around foreplay is what feels pleasurable to these natives. Audrey Tautou plays a gold digger-y woman (a common Ashlesha trope) who mistakes a bartender to be a wealthy man. She later helps him work as a gigolo for a wealthy woman.

Ashleshas are skilled at manipulation (this is often described in a negative light by many astrologers but manipulation is a skill like any other and can be used for good and bad reasons). This whole movie revolves around one woman's ability to manipulate men into giving her what she wants and by teaching this to another person, she is emphasizing the fact that this is a skill that can be picked up (an essential Mercurial principle because Mercury is about that which we cultivate not what we've been innately gifted with).

6. Marilyn Monroe, Ashlesha Rising in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

MM plays a gold digger who carefully uses her feminine charms and allure to get with wealthy men. Understanding how to channel femininity in ways that benefit them is a very Cancerian woman thing.

If we were to consider the fact that Marilyn basically created a whole alter ego, adopted certain mannerisms, dressed a specific way, used a fake baby voice, styled and kept up a whole persona then we can see the positive manifestation of Ashlesha and Cancer's manipulative feminine nature. She wasn't born Marilyn, she became her through her carefully cultivated charm. This is peak Mercury, peak Cancer behaviour.

Sidenote: I've noticed many Cancer women speaking in a fake baby voice tbh hehe, Paris Hilton (Pushya Moon) also does this. Paris is also a great example of Cancerian performative femininity. She managed to convince the whole world she was a dumb blonde heiress when she was anything but. She created a persona for herself and played that character to the t. Her hyperfeminine mannerisms, almost caricatur-ish personality has had a lasting impact on pop culture. She herself has come out to say that she "was playing a character".

7. Anna Kendrick, Ashlesha Sun in Alice, Darling (2022)

this movie is about a manipulative, abusive and controlling relationship based on anna kendrick's real life experiences. Ashlesha women and Cancer women in general are very susceptible to relationships of this sort. It starts at home usually, these women have very dysfunctional relationships with their mothers and go on to form unhealthy and toxic romantic relationships (if unevolved).

8. Ashlesha's connection to Snow White

Snow White's story depicts the OG toxic mother-daughter dynamic which is a common theme in the lives of many Ashlesha natives. Receiving step daughterly treatment from your own mother and having a sibling who is more favoured than you is another common theme.

We see this play out in real life with Bella and Gigi Hadid who both have Ashlesha Mars as their atmakaraka and amatyakaraka respectively.

Many Ashlesha women play the toxic mother in tv shows and movies (Vera Farmiga, Ashlesha Moon in Bates Motel) but its equally likely for them to play the daughter who is at the receiving end of the abuse.

A major way that this "toxicity" manifests is through highly co-dependent relationships with their mothers, who essentially run their lives for them and keep them "trapped" in childlike passivity. The thing is Ashlesha women almost kinda like it this way, they want to be taken care of, they're needy and would much rather have someone else do everything for them. Rising above this passivity is their biggest challenge.

The Indian actress Sridevi (Ashlesha Sun & Stellium) was known for her highly co-dependent relationship with her mother. In the 80s during her peak, it was a running joke that you could ask Sridevi anything and she'd respond with "Ask Mummy". Sridevi, like many Ashlesha natives had a very childlike personality and was often described as lacking "mental maturity". The reality is that her mother micromanaged her life and made all her decisions, controlled her finances and told her what she could do and couldn't do until she passed away when Sri was well into her 30s. She forced Sri into films when she was barely a toddler and never gave her any formal education. Of course Sridevi never described this relationship as "toxic". Most of these natives wouldn't because its been ingrained into them that they're incapable of getting anything done on their own and "need" their mother to do things for them. They're gaslit into believing they're inept. (Sridevi was also known for speaking in a baby voice 😌)

Ashlesha lies entirely in Cancer rashi which means they are lost to the watery depths of Cancer's influence, the combination of Moon & Mercury always makes one prone to manipulation and although this is considered a negative, I absolutely believe it can be manifest in positive ways. However it IS hard.

The feminine/ yin urge to absorb energy manifests itself in an absolutely self-serving here. Imo this is by nature self serving always however other Cancer rashi naks have the ability to give to others in ways an Ashlesha native can't.

Ashlesha is cancer at its most passive, absolutely unable to "give"; this means they feel easily drained by others and have to be very selective with who they give their energy to. Women in society are harshly judged for how much of their energy they give to others which is why Ashlesha women who are largely self contained are viewed as "toxic", because our society looks down upon women who only exist for themselves, we're all taught to "give". A woman who cannot do so is seen as "toxic" because its "selfish" to keep to yourself. This is why Ashleshas are so grossly misunderstood.

Mercurial women have a very complicated relationship with sex and sexuality. This is most evident in the case of Ashlesha women. Cat yoni is the most restrictive yoni and this is not only apparent in their sexual preferences and relationships but in the way they conduct themselves generally. They are usually introverted and struggle the most with their tendency to be passive because cats are by nature, very lethargic creatures who are self involved and seldom seek outside company.

The other two mercury naks, Jyeshta (rabbit yoni) and Revati (elephant yoni) have a very different approach to sexual matters. For Jyeshta natives, its the frequency of sex that matters, since rat/rabbit yoni is considered the most sexual. They usually have a high sex drive but sex itself is impersonal for them.

However for Revati natives, given that their yoni is the largest land animal, more than frequency its the quality of sexual intimacy that satiates them. They are thrill seekers. Sex that is ordinary or "vanilla" does not fulfil them; there has to be an element of adrenaline rush, which BDSM or other taboo relationships can provide but its rare for these natives to feel pure, naked desire for someone, they crave the thrill of sex itself.

Overall, a major focus in the lives of Ashlesha natives is building an identity for themselves. Many of them cultivate a self that's entirely different to who they were growing up, with a very apparent change in style/mannerisms etc. Like snakes (to whom they are closely linked) they need to shed their skin and renew themselves again and again.

Their Mercurial gifts of intellect, wit and street smarts see them through these and allow them to flourish in every avatar.

Buffy has always been VERY intelligent and clever. She’s a quick thinker and very resourceful.

When Anya becomes a vengeance demon again Buffy doesn’t take action against her until she causes a massacre that also traumatizes a young girl so can we PLEASE stop this narrative of Buffy just easily and carelessly deciding to kill Anya?

Because not only was it not a quick and easy decision HER GOAL WAS NEVER TO KILL HER THAT’S WHY SHE GRABBED A SWORD SHE KNOWS SWORDS DONT KILL VENGEANCE DEMONS AS IS ESTABLISHED IN SEASON 6!!!!!

She recognized self destruction after heartbreak because of her own and Willow’s in season 6 and she knew talking with Anya would get her NO WHERE just like Spike trying to talk her out of turning herself in to the police when she thought she killed katrina because she believed she deserved to be punished and trying to reason with dark willow was completely pointless

She uses the fight to force Anya to confront the reality and what the consequences will be if she continues down this path while ensuring this fight won’t actually kill her. Buffy knows she can’t ignore this and she can’t waste time struggling with the decision of whether or not to kill her because she did that with Angel and so many more people died in the process.

BUFFY IS GROWN!!! SHE HAS LEARNED FROM ALL HER EXPERIENCE AND MISTAKES AND IT SHOWS!!!!!! But everyone is so used to her TORTURING herself over these kinds of decisions they’re unable to recognize she has gained the wisdom and experience to act instinctively and decisively even when no one else agrees because SHE KNOWS it’s right and that is always proven to be true!!!!!! She is finally not letting a bunch of people who are not the slayer tell her how to be the slayer because she never should have been listening to anyone else in the first place. She’s proven to be right time and time again with Spike, Anya, Caleb and y’all still are doubting her….. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING!!!!! AND IT ALWAYS ENDS UP BEING THE RIGHT CALL!!!!!!! How anyone can watch her owning her shit as a leader and a slayer clearly demonstrating the last 6 years of suffering weren’t for nothing as she is now confident in herself and her judgement and think she’s heartless or stupid or careless or biased I just CANT. USE YOUR BRAINS!!! LOOK AT THE ENTIRE CONTEXT OF THE SHOW IM BEGGING YOU FOR THE SAKE OF MY SANITY

It’s also the perfect way to show xander how cruel and heartless him always telling/shaming/guilting her to kill angel is at the same time. He finally got a taste of his own medicine and he couldn’t handle it even a little. She showed what a fucking hypocrite he’s always been because everyone else? If you love someone who’s done evil you’re a horrible person and they need to die but if it’s someone HE loves it’s different even though Anya has definitely caused more deaths than angel and spike combined and was forced to be good rather than it being her own choice and went BACK to being evil of her own free will after he actually fucked up and caused all of this in the first place while never taking any blame himself even though he blamed buffy for angel and spike’s actions any chance he could even the ones directed at her when the blame never lied with her in the first place

thinking about your sexual violence discussion in Buffy.

I think there is something in Anya's story arc in season 7 that ties in.

D'hoffryn is always polite and affable but always proves to be sadistic. he wears politeness as a disguise. When Aud cursed her husband, she is praised and exalted by this demon man who promised her power and glory for the chance to do something good in the world like help women get revenge.

but he really thinks of all of his girls as disposable. he kills Halfrek just to make Anya hurt. kind of like how the watchers view the Slayer as disposable. You can always find other woman to fill the gap. preferably a young attractive one.

he is not interested in The actual revenge that happens. he doesn't actually care about the girls who work for him. he just wants power over people. They even say there's always vengeance needed at brothels, implying that a lot of revenge is tied to sexual violence or misbehavior. he is taking advantage of women in these situations to build his influence rather than actually help them.

Anya truly believes she is doing good work until now when she realizes that she is not helping these women, very frequently she is scaring them. That's why she wants to undo the wish. she doesn't want to hurt women anymore and she is punished for that

omg….anon im kissing you on the lips. this is such such a good point. i’ve been meaning to examine anya’s place in the btvs sexual violence schema and i think you’re so right with this…..i think there’s also something to be said for how anya’s character in general has literally only revolved around men….d’hoffryn as a vengeance demon, then xander when she lost that, then d’hoffryn again when she lost xander, then xander again when she loses d’hoffryn again…..the episode where anya gives up being a vengeance demon is SUCH a good episode where she decides that she has to define her life outside of these relationships to men. and then they immediately bring her back to just joke about her and xander again. she deserved so much better…..i think there’s also something to be said for how her loving money is played off as like a joke and a negative character trait but how having money is like. a very material necessity for women to have independence from men especially considering the era she grew up in where she literally would not have had any money of her own. anya has never been independent she has always been reliant on a man in her life out of necessity. she took so much shit from xander because as a demon recently turned young woman she was not equipped to live in the world on her own and the help of the scoobies was dependent on her relationship with xander…..genuinely makes me seethe how her character was treated so poorly by the other characters and narratively as just a joke character when she’s literally such a rich interesting and fascinating person…..anya babygirl i would treat you so right

Jason Todd's Marvel counterpart isn't The Punisher,Deadpool or Bucky Barnes-It's Miles Morales:By someone who's read every single comic Jason's ever been in and watched/played almost all his adaptions and is working on the same for Miles

Miles Morales is an altruistic,peppy optimistic sunshine boy who's a huge nerd in both meanings of the word and a paragon of soft,positive masculinity but also has a physical incapability of not running his mouth and snark off the charts with the never misses sense of humor to back it up,repressed anger issues from his trauma and isn't afraid to not hold back on people who deserve it because he may be soft but that dosen't make him a doormat.That's Robin!Jason Todd too and anybody who tells you otherwise is gross asf,because the only reason he was retconned to be 'a bad kid' was classist propaganda to demonize poor people,including his parents Catherine and Willis who pre-reboot were going through hard times but were good parents nonetheless

Miles is also the second mantleholder for one of the most well-known and influental superhero titles ever and was widely hated out of being a minority but is now widely beloved,a mama's boy who's mom is a brown haired woc with cultural roots when the writers aren't being clowns and is humanized instead of only existing for her kids,has a black and red theme and can't socialize normally nor does he flirt typically or have mainstream interests which combined with the rest of him makes a strong case for him being audhd but undiagnosed and also unable to mask.This isn't quite the same thing but a nice contrast is that Miles' canonical animal variant is a cat while Jason's is a wolf and in both Spiderverse movies,Miles has a red hoodie as a key motif of his.In Itsv,Miles meets Peter B when Peter B approches him from behind while he's grieving Ripeter and shocks him in self-defense and it's followed up by them having unconventional bonding and i can't help but think of it as another,bigger contrasting parallel to Jason meeting Bruce because he was stealing the tires from the Batmobile and hitting him with a tire iron and that is followed up by him finding Jason grieving his parents at his apartment and them unconventionally bonding.Both these leadup to them getting that mantle(Spiderman/Robin)

When Miles was 15,he went to a far off place to find himself at the manipulation of an important woman in his life(though to Gwen's credit,she was a manipulated and gaslight teenager by adults instead of a gaslighting adult like Sheila)and it caused a major shift in his narrative because of a Canon Event Death.Police Chiefs and in Jason's case,himself.Miles G is strikingly similar to a fresh out of A Death In The Family and Lost Days Era Jason.He's a 15 year old boy who went from a shining sunflower to a wilted sunflower because his light was killed and he's resorted to coping by being an emotionally constipated asshole(but absolutely not abusive!!)with edgy tastes and a vigilante at the mentorship of an important figure from his dad's past he was also close to growing up,Aaron a Talia to his Jason,and Miles G even has green eyes like Jason does.Miles G is quite literally a Red Hood Variant Miles Morales

So, your Clear Sky post is absolutely horrifying, but it was very needed, so thank you. What are your general thoughts on tackling his abuse for the AU? Like you've said, pretending he's a good guy is not the way to go, but are you planning on toning down *some* of the situations, just to give some of the cats a break? Clear Sky is a very realistic depiction of abusers, but that seems to come across even without victim number 25, yknow? I'm very curious about how you'd like to go about this.

My most recent big change was bringing Slash back into the fold, because I realized that it was actually a disservice to not address where DOTC's themes dip into Colonialism. It's a hard topic, and I'm still trying to work out the details, but I realized it was important.

With how BB!DOTC is such a MASSIVE overhaul, to properly address abuse and the ways it impacts you, ableism and its violence, and xenophobia broadly, a huge reworking of Slash belonged here too. He's one of the greatest examples of how badly WC demonizes non-Clanborn cats. I shouldn't dance around it.

That's what I need to do with Skystar.

MANY of his victims have happier endings than canon, though. Bumble is one of the most famous, bumped up into a major character and directly responsible for the formation of ThunderClan. Bright Storm is taking most of Gray Wing's roles. Birch and Alder are getting examined, with either a father who wants his kids back or Milkweed as the mate of Misty.

A lot of people will die because of him, even more will be hurt, but I see BB!DOTC as a story about victims and survivors.

Others might grab POVs here and there, but as a response to canon which I feel is Clear Sky's story told in many parts, I center this rewrite around Thunder Storm. The path of kindness he marches down, with love and with anger, and the people he helps.

So BB!Star Flower...

Previously I was playing her as ENTIRELY just manipulating Clear Sky. She was loyal to One Eye and trying to get at Skystar to bleed him dry for 8 lives to sacrifice; but connected to Thunderstar over recognizing him as a victim who deserves her idea of justice. So, she offers Thunderstar the final kill, so her father will be grateful to him and he'll get power AND the death of his abuser.

(When Thunderstar looks upon Skystar, pathetic and neutralized down to one life, he thinks about the collateral damage that will descend upon the forest if he accepts the deal. He decides that he has found the line between Justice and Justification. Of course he wants the power to make his enemies cower, protect his people, and eliminate Clear Sky so he never threatens them again; that's not the problem.

He can still do these things. He wouldn't NEED the power of a war god to do so.

But if One Eye returns, he will be endlessly hungry, ruthlessly dedicated to revenge, and set out to devour the whole forest. Everything would get worse, and even more people he loves would die. It's where his desire to destroy a monster would lead to him BECOMING one.)

Even on its face, it was previously missing an element. There's a step between "Starf decides to bring One Eye back" and "Starf offers Thunderstar the final kill" that was bare. This is the piece that was missing-- That she, herself, is trying to reach out to the only person who's ever really understood her.

But more importantly... I do feel this topic belongs here, in BB!DOTC. Abuse is a MAJOR theme. SKYSTAR is a monster already. He's harmed two wives in BB (Bright Storm and Falling Cry) and played toxic games with all three kits (Thunder Storm, Pale Sky, Tiger Sky).

And I'd avoid Star Flower being abused... why? Because it's uncomfortable to confront the pattern that Clear Sky displays? That in-canon, he tries to cut all his victims into the same ideal shape, from Storm to Thunder to Star Flower? ...it should be uncomfortable. Everything that I described in Clear Sky Is A Monster is rooted in the same desire for control, power, and punishment most abusive people share, he just happens to be a severe example.

Yes. That includes how he treats his child and romantic partners. The parallels that are drawn between Starf and Thunder are there because he wants power in the form of obedience. Starf replaces the son as a narrative award for his "growth" of not killing random people anymore for a while.

A cookie cutter is an effective tool because IT ONLY MAKES ONE SHAPE.

You know what's more uncomfortable? Reading canon!DOTC and seeing someone who hurt you reflected almost perfectly in the character the writers think did nothing wrong. Because of "good intentions" that were not there.

I will say though, just to be clear; I don't see a purpose in being more than PG-13 about serious topics for this project. I promise none of my intentions have changed. Nothing will be more graphic or gorey than canon WC-- just more intentional.

I'm keeping the sacrifice because it's dope. No one is taking this from me. Girl Moment: Killed her awful husband 8 times to count as 8 sacrifices and offered the last life to her buddy as a show of good will. How else do you make friends outside of high school

But I know now that Star Flower NEEDS to keep the canon fact she has very little agency, UNTIL that moment she snaps.

She's sacrificing one abuser to try and bring back a bigger, badder one, because in spite of everything, her father One Eye always made her feel safe. Even though he promised her off to Skystar, and expected her to be willing to die for him. She's followed every command, every order, past the death of his mortal vessel.

The first, and only, selfish choice she's ever made was in reaching out to Thunderstar to offer him the power of her father.

Thunderstar's Justice is a story about a Thunder Storm at the pinnacle of his arc, how the survivors of his Clan are settling into the new normal after the carnage of The First Battle, how Skystar's arrogance brings a violent god to the Forest... and the connection Thunderstar makes with the daughter of a monster.

ahhh im so bad at explaining things even tho theres like. a lot of lore & worldbuilding (by my standards anyways)

but basically all of my angel & demon OCs are part of an idea i have for an rpg/ttrpg?? set in a world where God, angels and demons all exist in the world, mainly in a sort of eldritch sense. God has essentially gone missing for thousands of years - with only scattered miracles to occasionally make Its presence known - and in Its absence, the angels have taken on their own warped interpretation of Its edict while the demons have wreaked havoc, and both have entwined themselves very heavily into human society (mostly to humanity’s detriment).

The players would create a character (human((religious, cult, or agnostic)), fallen angel, redemption demon, etc) that would give them certain skill sets/abilities/affinities depending on their choices, but the overall goal of the game is to Meet/Find God (and your characters reason for this would vary)

The continent in the game is basically one enormous mountain range, with the peaks actually reaching the heavens (think like olympus) with those living closer to the peaks being basically ultra religious societies who still believe God is there and everything that happens is still somehow part of Its plan, and those at the base and few small surrounding islands (which deal with much more demonic corruption and angelic attacks) doubting It still exists, and becoming home to fringe groups of cults creating their own deities (sometimes literally) and agnostics.

Players would meet somewhere at the base and progress up the mountain, and - depending on their group make-up - meet angels and demons along the way, both of which could potentially be foes or allies.

The angels exist in a hierarchy, with the seven Seraphim at the top, but almost all of them pose a potential danger. With God no longer at the reigns, the angels have had centuries to interpret Its will however they see fit. Many of the lowest ranking angels still hold the original ideals and are mostly harmless, granting blessings and offering sage advice, but are of no Real help. Of the higher ranking angels, many have gained their own twisted sort of moral compass and have lost touch with Gods original love for mankind. What is or isn’t a sin, what deserves punishment or what deserves blessing, has become subjective to them and they bestow their judgment upon mankind with great prejudice.

The demons exist in a hierarchy as well. As angels stripped of their holy power (and thus blinded) when they attempted to overthrow God, they seek to earn back their power and sight by stealing souls. The harder to corrupt a soul is, the more power they obtain when that soul finally succumbs. Lower level/weaker demons mainly seek to cause wide spread devastation and death, as they dont have the power to corrupt, but feed on any souls lost. Higher level demons are more insidious, possessing or manipulating people in power, in search of “higher quality” souls to assist their climb.

There are also a small group of “fallen” angels and “redeemed” demons, who exist sort of outside of the status-quo since they no longer fit neatly into either group. Fallen angels are (usually lower ranking) angels that have fallen in love with humanity and rejected their base angelic nature to live amongst them. They forfeit most of their angelic power and assume a more human-like appearance in order to live amongst the humans they adore, but have a still-perceivable “otherness” that leaves them mostly an outcast. Redemption demons are somewhat similar; they have gained/retained enough love for humanity since their fall that they no longer seek to claim human souls for power and are instead attempting to regain Gods love through redemption and acts of kindness. Falling from heaven has irrevocably changed them physically, however, and they face great hardships attempting to fit in to human society.

Of the Seraphim, Hadeon represents the Wrath of God. He is tasked with finding and punishing sinners, those who would blaspheme or turn against God. Originally she was the fair hand of Justice, but in the centuries of Gods absence, his sense of right and wrong have become irrevocably warped. Their presence can first be felt with the smell of ozone, and a sudden intense pressure, like a storm on the horizon. She, and the army of angels under her command, hunt sinners through the streets, meting out their vigilante justice. Where he goes, indescriminate bloodshed almost always follows.

Her mindset is entirely black and white, but despite eons walking the earth they retain a naïveté of human society that makes her pretty easily distractable. He can occasionally be reasoned with and/or distracted, and even more rarely convinced to bestow a blessing.

Hadeon is one of the first Minor bosses the player faces, and your decision to either befriend, escape, or kill her will play a role in your later encounter with other higher angels.

obviously there are all of the other Seraphim, and other high ranking demons that have their own names/info/etc i could literally keep going on and on abt them & more in depth world building forever probably but i will stop now 😔

I have a lot of thoughts on Lilith. For one, we know it can't be a coincidence that both her and Alastor left around the same time. We know Alastor isn't at full power because of a deal he made. There's a lot pointing to Lilith being the one he made a deal with, ergo her being the one who has him on a leash.

It explains why he sought Charlie out in the first place. He made it clear in the pilot (yes I finally watched it) that he doesn't think Sinners can be redeemed. So for him to disappear at the same time as Lilith and then reappear and partner with her daughter very much implies that she's the one he's indebted to.

Lilith and Adam made a deal and it's heavily implied that it was to grant her access to heaven. I think that Adam offered Lilith access to heaven to get her to stop influencing the uprising (as it's implied she does this in the first episode).

So what is Lilith and Alastor's deal and how did it come to be?

This is a stretch, but I think Alastor was hurt after a fight, maybe on the brink of death (either after his fight with Vox- Valentino says Alastor almost defeated him, this implies their fight ended in a draw- or maybe one of the Sins). Lilith found him and helped him, but didn't restore him to full power. Since, due to her deal, she could no longer encourage the uprising, she ensured that Charlie would be able to with the help of a powerful, cunning ally who could teach her how to influence, encourage, and lead.

(I mean, come on. The one thing Alastor taught her was how to use a smile to her advantage. To inspire her friends and leave her enemies guessing. And then he brought her to Rosie to test her abilities in gathering an army. Alastor is there to teach her, whether he shows it or not)

Charlie's love for her people had to have come from Lilith. Lucifer thinks lowly of Sinners after his attempts were crushed by Heaven, so it had to have been Lilith who encouraged that care. It was likely her influence that pushed Charlie to have those ideals. If More Than Anything is truly implying that she kept Charlie away from Lucifer, it could be so that his pessimism towards Sinners couldn't dissuade her.

Did you guys know that Charlie is apparently only 200 years old? Lucifer and Lilith have been in Hell for thousands of years, since the story of Adam and Eve. Isn't it kind of odd that they only had a kid in the 1800s? And why, after even that, did Lilith only get into Heaven 7 years before the current events?

Call me crazy, but I think Lilith has a game plan here. Here's what I think is happening:

Lilith loves her people. She doesn't think lowly of them because they're "bad people," she thinks they should be free to express themselves and be who they are

Lucifer regrets his choices. He regrets giving humans knowledge and blames himself for humanity being evil. Lilith realizes this and starts to resent him for it

Lilith thinks her people don't deserve to rot in Hell, as she resonates them being damned to her and Lucifer being punished when they had good intentions. She starts encouraging them to uprise and demand better

Sera, worried about the citizens of Heaven, gives Adam permission to start the Extermination

Lilith recognizes that this is a losing battle. Heaven is too strong and demons don't have the means to fight back. Her songs of influence haven't been enough and her people are suffering. So she convinces Lucifer to have a baby. Someone who will bring in a new era, and someone Heaven will never take as a serious threat until it's too late

Lilith has Charlie and raises her with love for their people and strong ideals. She tells the story of how her and Lucifer met, painting them as good people with good intentions and stressing that they were unfairly punished. Charlie takes this to heart, also wanting better for their people. Lilith keeps Charlie away from Lucifer, afraid that he'll have her thinking the worst of Sinners

As she raises Charlie, Lilith waits for the right moment she can put her plan into action. She happens upon the Radio Demon Alastor on the brink of death and takes the opportunity. She heals him, but seals his power, promising to restore it if he acts as a mentor to Charlie and teaches her how to lead the Demons against Heaven. Her end goal is either to complete the uprising against Heaven or redeem Sinners. I'm not sure, but getting rid of the Exterminations for good is definitely part of it. (I also think it's possible that Alastor challenged her, she made a deal depending on the outcome of their fight, and he lost. Either one works in this situation)

After making the deal with Alastor, Lilith reaches out to Adam. She agrees to stop the uprising if she can be welcomed to Heaven. This isn't to enjoy Heaven, it's to get herself out of the picture so that Sera and the other angels won't suspect that an uprising is what's actually happening

This is actually kind of supported by the deal Alastor and Charlie made. He gets a favor of his choosing at any time where she doesn't hurt anyone. This could very well be either getting her to convince Lilith to absolve their deal or pushing her into becoming the leader of Hell and liberating Hell, therefore fulfilling the deal.

Some people are suspecting that Lilith betrayed her husband, daughter, and people to live in paradise. And I can't believe that. Lilith, from what we've seen, takes pride in her people and was close with her daughter. And she's someone who prioritizes freedom, expression, knowledge, etc. I can't see her being content to live peacefully in Heaven. Ultimately, I think she's the one pulling the strings here and making sure Charlie is ready to be a leader when the time comes, liberating their people.

I agree with you. I’ve seen some terrible takes about Charlie. I actually do like Charlie despite disagreeing with some of her opinions. I just wish she was handled better in the show’s writing. There still hope for season 2.

Now regarding Adam, I’ll admit, I do tend to babify him. But I also don’t condone his genocidal actions and I disagree with his black and white belief. Narrative wise, Heaven sees it as a necessary evil and that’s how I see it too. I saw some fans claim that it is deserve and some fans argue that it isn’t. There’s no justifying genocide. Period. Adam should be humbled down, (hence why I love sinner Adam theories and takes that does punish him.)

The fandom being sexist, I think that it stems from the show since it didn’t handle the female characters that well. Immediately demonizing Lilith though, that I 100% agree with you. We know nothing about her so seeing takes that just hates her just feels so wrong to me. In fanfiction? Completely fine. In AUs? It’s A-okay. Fanarts? Do your thing and go wild! But absolutely hating her just because that’s how you saw it? Hating people who didn’t agree with your “Lilith is evil” opinion? You need to touch some grass. Talk face-to-face with other people. Be patient and get to know the character before hating them first.

That’s where the beauty of fanfic, fanarts, and others come in. We add more to the things we like.

I think the way Hell works in Dead Boy Detectives is like this:

*This is all with the caveat that one of the reasons why I left Christianity is because I feel like a land of abuse you go to when you die is not something morally sound nor something I want to believe in. So, when I say something like "deserves to be in Hell" it comes with the caveat that I don't actually think really anyone does deserve to be there I mean it more in world or narratively speaking.*

Edwin get's taken on a technicality. He doesn't deserve Hell but his soul was promised to a demon. A demon who seemed, quite frankly, pretty apathetic towards capturing souls (maybe it was a middle man or a soul collector). He is owned by a denizen of Hell but belongs in Heaven (or whatever) so he's there on a technicality. Until someone is willing to challenge whoever owns his soul he will remain Hell's property. Although this is somewhat contradicted by the Night Nurse being absolutely flabbergasted by his technicality existing. Have there just not been a lot of successful demon summoning's with kids? Have most people through history just happened to only sacrifice shitty people? Maybe there's more to his technicality but without anymore information I say that it's just that he's been sold to Hell but belongs in Heaven.

Simon "deserved" to go Hell for bullying and inadvertently sacrificing Edwin. Which is why he get's an appropriate punishment. A "just" punishment unlike Edwin who is owned and so is more of a personal demon plaything than someone getting what he's owed. However, when Edwin forgives him Simon no longer needs to be punished. There's no one he's hurting anymore. There's no one past or present who feels wronged by him anymore. Edwin forgives him, and might weirdly be grateful as he wouldn't have Charles, Crystal and Nico without what he did. But Simon also needs to stop feeling like he belongs in Hell. He needs to stop, in a sense, wanting to be there. Quite literally "If you punish yourself, everywhere becomes Hell" he needs to forgive himself to be free.

This is echoed with the WW1 solider, Wilfred, in episode 1. I think Death could probably just force people to go to heaven but that's not who she is. But also I could really see this as the philosophy of Death in the show that "If you punish yourself, everywhere is Hell." So, if you're "so confused. So full of anger and hate" that you barely know what's going on. Let alone are able to think clearly about guilt and morality. Maybe you can't go to heaven, because you won't accept it. But you don't deserve Hell. So you're stuck. A ghost.

With Maxine I think she does not know why she's in Hell because A: There's no kindly Death taking you by the hand and explaining things to you. With Hell you're just snatched. B: I think that's part of the punishment of it all, not having answers. She doesn't know why she's there the same way she didn't know not to stalk or attack Jenny. She still thinks what she did was loving. She "needs" to be punished and reflect on what she's done. And that'll only start once she stops feeling sorry for herself on the stairs and finds her punishment. You can't forgive yourself or reflect on what you've done if you won't look at your actions for what they are.

Heaven requires reflection.

Platonic! Alastor + Best Friend! Reader who's also an overlord.

Description: Needing extra assistance with an upcoming fight, Alastor brings Charlie and Vaggie to your sector in order to discuss some business, but can they prove themselves in the most lethal place of all: the dance floor?

"Put some pep into it!" You shouted at the small group of people currently dancing in front of you, "don't make me force your movements! I assure you, they won't be nearly this easy if I do." You leaned back in your chair, crossing one of your legs over the other as a bored expression came over your face. 

"How long do you suspect they'll last?" Joan questioned beside you, leaning down just enough so that you'd be able to hear her words without it being too obvious that the two of you were chatting. 

"I give it two hours, tops." You told her, feeling particularly pessimistic today. She nodded as a grin formed on her lips.

"I think three." You raised an eyebrow at that and spared her a glance before turning your gaze back to the pathetic little dance circle the group had made now. "That's only if you don't decide to put them under your control, though." She added, knowing exactly what you were thinking.

"We'll see." You replied as you gently fanned yourself. It was particularly warm in hell, and if not for these sinners needing to be taught a lesson, you likely would have been inside with a cool drink instead right now. "The day's still young, after all." 

"Indeed." Joan nodded at that before another of your underlings came running over to her, whispering in her ear as if whatever he had to say was some big secret no one else deserved to hear. Whatever it was, it seemed to make her surprised because her eyes widened slightly and she nodded. "Please excuse me," she said, turning to you, who simply nodded. You trusted the catlike demon enough to let her make her own calls at times like this, and you knew if there ended up being something she needed then she would simply come find you. 

Joan disappeared after that and you grabbed ahold of the microphone at your side once more. "Give me energy!" You called, making the terrified sinners dance a little harder despite the sweat dripping down their foreheads.

The sight of you torturing a bunch of poor sinners by making them dance for you was nothing new in the Swing Sector, and in fact, many of your other owned souls stopped to watch or spared glances as they passed. It was nothing most of them hadn't gone through sometime, after all. 

Whenever souls you owned messed up in ways that were particularly inconvenient to you, you made a day out of gathering them in the center of the Sector and forcing them to dance for all to see. They would do that for however long it took to make them finally collapse and pass out from exhaustion, at which point they would have served their punishment and been able to move on. You found the whole process highly entertaining, and if you ever wanted to speed it up, you would simply use your powers to control their movements; tiring them out further. After all, there was hardly a soul in hell that could keep up with you on the dance floor.

"There's someone here to see you." Joan suddenly spoke from by your side and you turned to look at her now, noticing that there were three demons that seemed to be waiting behind her. One in particular caught your eye with his red clothing and huge smile. 

Hardly a soul in hell that could keep up with you; except for Alastor, that was. 

"Perfect." You grinned before standing up and making your way over to the trio, sparing a glance at the still-dancing sinners to make sure they didn't try and take any breaks as you did. "Al!" You exclaimed once you were within their sight, opening your arms to him, "Lovely to see you around here again!"

His own grin widened and he happily pulled you into hug. You'd always enjoyed embraces from your best friend; no matter how few and far between they tended to be. 

"I tried to leave you alone, but it seems I just couldn't stay away!" He joked as he pulled back from your hug now. You rolled your eyes playfully.

"Well, it's a good thing I just finished those clothes I've been working on for you," you told him, referring to the outfit he would be wearing to the Overlord Gala in a few weeks, "You'll have to try them on for size while you're here."

"Why, I've never gotten a single article of clothing from you that didn't fit me like a glove!" Alastor replied with a light laugh, "But if you insist, then I suppose I could give it a wear." Behind him, a sinner girl with a red 'X' over her eye and long white hair cleared her throat. "However, we've actually come here today for another reason." 

"That so?" You asked, placing your hands on your hips, "And who are these two?" Your tone was light and friendly, knowing Alastor would never have knowingly brought anyone dangerous into your sector. He cared about you too much to ever risk your safety, despite you being an overlord yourself. 

"Hi! I'm Charlie, Lucifer's daughter!" The taller demon with long blonde hair tied back into a braid said, shaking your hand eagerly. She then turned to the girl at her side. "And this is my girlfriend, Vaggie!" 

As soon as you heard their names, you clocked into who they were; having heard a few stories from Alastor the last time you'd seen him. They were from that hotel he was helping with for whatever reason, so it made sense that he'd brought them to you today if there was something they needed.

"Nice to meet you!" You greeted before telling them both your own name. "I'm the overlord of this sector and-"

"And a very dear friend of mine!" Alastor cut in, making you glare his way despite not feeling any anger about it. "We've known one another since just after I arrived in hell, and they've been in charge of my wardrobe ever since, so it's no wonder why I always look my best!" You grinned but shook your head. 

"You can consider me Al's tailor," you explained before glancing back at the dance area nearby, where the sinners seemed very interested in whatever you were doing but not very much so in what they were meant to be doing. "I didn't say you could stop!" You shouted; your tone slightly terrifying, "Get into it!" That sent the whole group back into dancing and you smiled, turning back to Charlie and Vaggie as Alastor settled in standing at your side. "Now, is there something you two are in need of that I can help with? Maybe some new clothes?"

You'd meant it in the kindest way possible, but the slight disgust you felt while looking at their outfits seemed to seep through in your tone. 

"A-actually," Charlie spoke up carefully now, "I own a hotel here in hell that redeems sinners- or at least, we're trying to- and we've been having a little trouble with heaven recently, so for the next extermination, we were planning to...fight the angels." She trailed off at the end, seemingly knowing how outlandish her words must have sounded to you. 

"You have a way to fight them?" You repeated, glancing at your best friend, who nodded in confirmation, "I see. And I'm assuming you want my help with that?" 

"The help of your people, more than anything!" Alastor spoke up, putting an arm over your shoulders, "The more we have backing our cause, the better chance we'll have of success! Our dear Rosie has already agreed to lend us some of her cannibals, but I suggested Charlie speak with you as well." 

"I see." You replied, turning to look at Charlie again, who seemed to have a very hopeful look in her eyes. 

"I promise your people would be very well taken care of at my hotel!" She exclaimed eagerly, "They'll make friends and eat great food, and I'm sure we could even find them some sort of dance space!"

"And we'll teach them how to kill angels." Vaggie added the most important part, making her girlfriend nod. 

You didn't say anything at first, feeling no pressure from Alastor to make a decision right away. After all, he knew how much you cared about your people and that you wouldn't want to send them into harm's way so easily. 

"Preventing the extermination would mean less death in your streets in the future, as well." He spoke softly to you, knowing how hard your owned souls had been hit by the most recent extermination. Since then, you'd been somewhat desperate to avoid having that loss happen again. 

"You're saying you have a sure way to kill angels?" You asked, "Because I don't think I can send my people into a fight like that if I'm not confident about the outcome."

"We are!" Charlie exclaimed, "If you help us fight the angels, we could change the way the exterminations operate forever! And if I can protect my hotel, I know it will be successful in the future so that we don't even need to have these killings anymore!" You could tell she was a person with many grand and hopeful ideas like that but it put a smile on your face, nonetheless. 

Even so, though, you were hesitant to agree to a plan as dangerous as this one so soon. How did you even know whether they could make good on those promises?

"Carmilla Carmine was the one that taught me how to kill angels," Vaggie spoke up finally, placing a hand on her heart as she took a step towards you, "If you help us, it would change the way exorcists operate forever." You relaxed slightly at the mention of your other friend. Plus, it seemed like Vaggie had more experience with the angels and exorcists than she was letting on. You knew better than to pry about it but the knowledge helped ease your worries a bit.

"...Alright." You decided finally, "If Carmilla was the one to train you, then maybe you really do have a chance." You could feel Alastor smirk at that, having known what your answer would be before he even arrived in the Swing Sector. Curse him for knowing you so well. "But," you added, making both girls pause, "You'll need to prove yourself to my people if they're going to follow you into a battle like this."

"Not again..." Charlie mumbled under her breath. Alastor seemed to know what she was referring to because he spoke up now.

"I assure you, the people here have very different standards of trust than those in Cannibal Town," he told her before nodding for you to continue. 

"If you want them to follow you, you'll have to prove you're on a similar level to me, their leader," you explained, snapping your fingers to tell Joan to turn on some of your favorite music. She immediately did so and then a second later, it began blasting through the loud speakers. The group of punished sinners were still dancing in the background, though their movements had gotten significantly slower with time. 

Alastor, knowing how things operated in your sector, smiled wider and took a step closer to you as he extended his hand for you to take. You did, and then you turned back to the demon couple in front of you. "You'll have to prove yourself on the dance floor!"

There was a long pause as Vaggie and Charlie exchanged glances. Finally, the princess of hell cleared her throat as she turned back towards you. "You...Want us to dance?" She seemed a little nervous at the idea but you just nodded. 

"Of course! This is the Swing Sector, after all! It's kind of our thing." For emphasis, you raised your hand that was holding Alastor's; letting him spin you around before stopping in front of Charlie again. "Plus, I heard you liked the whole singing-and-dancing schtick. Why so worried, your highness?" 

The blonde demon immediately lowered her gaze and looked away from you. "O-oh, it's just that..." She trailed off but you nodded, urging her to continue, "I'm not sure I know how to do all...That..." She gestured towards the group of sinners that were still dancing behind you with terrified looks on their faces.

"Ah, not versed in this particular style?" You asked, to which she shook her head. "Well, that's alright!" You assured her, patting her lightly on the head, "You don't have to be great at it; just try your best!" 

"R-really?" Charlie questioned, "It’s just, with you being the overlord that represents dance, I would have thought you'd be more...strict on the technique?" 

"Sweetheart, half the sinners in this place have never set foot on a dance floor in their lives or afterlives," you told her matter-of-factly, "I don't expect anybody's technique to match mine unless, of course, I make them." Your eyes started to glow at the last part and your expression became scary but then you returned to normal. "So what do you say?" 

Charlie paused for a moment, glancing back at her girlfriend, who seemed less than thrilled at the idea. Finally, she met your eyes again and nodded. "Alright, we'll do it."

"Actually, I don't dance." Vaggie piped up now, making everyone instantly go quiet. Alastor's expression tightened in amusement. Of course, he'd known she would have that reaction, but he was also very aware that that sentence was considered forbidden in a place like the Swing Sector. He knew this was about to be good even before you let go of his hand to take a step closer to the fallen angel. 

"What was that?" You asked; your tone sinister. Vaggie drew in a breath to calm herself before answering.

"I don't dance; it's not my thing." At that, a string of laughter left your lips, causing everyone else in the area to join in as well. Finally, you took a long breath after the amusement had finished washing over you.

"...Yes you do." You told her seriously. At this, Vaggie started to glare at you. 

"No I-"

"Yes, you do." You interrupted her; your expression growing scary again as you took on your more demonic form. "Everyone does when they're here, honey." And with that, you turned around and headed for the dance floor.

"Come on!" You called, "You two have some credibility to prove." When you reached Alastor, you paused briefly. "Care to be my dance partner again this evening?" His smile only widened further. 

"But of course, my dear!" And with that, he took your hand and followed you out to where the group currently being punished was still dancing. Having no other option, both Charlie and Vaggie followed.

The second you set foot on the dance floor, it seemed the whole rest of the sector had decided to join in as they all paired off and began their practiced steps. You turned back to Charlie as Joan raised the volume of the music. 

"Dance for as long as you can until you collapse," you told her, "And don't worry; you just have to last longer than the masses  to get them to trust you; no one expects you to beat me." And with that, you and Alastor began dancing again, just as you'd done on that first night when he showed back up in your sector. 

Your gaze left the sinner couple as you danced; enjoying the sound of the music and the feeling of your best friend by your side. This was going to take a while, so you decided you might as well have fun in the process. 

"You didn't tell me those hotel owners were so amusing!" You exclaimed as he spun you around.

"They certainly do provide a good bit of entertainment!" Alastor replied with a nod, "though, I still find company such as yourself endlessly more enjoyable." You playfully rolled your eyes, knowing he was just trying to get out of discussing the real topic here: why he was helping the princess of hell in the first place. 

Knowing he wouldn't want you to press about it, though, you elected not to ask for now. He would tell you in time; he always did, as your best friend. 

Instead, you looked over at Charlie and Vaggie, who were significantly uncoordinated compared to your owned souls, but then, that was to be expected. Charlie seemed to be having fun with it anyway, and that looked like it was enough for Vaggie, who wore a light smile.

"I predict they'll make it to morning," Alastor decided as he changed the direction you two had been moving on the dance floor, "Any longer than that, and I'll have to carry them to the hotel on my back!" You chuckled but shook your head.

"They seem pretty energetic; I give it a couple hours longer than morning." You decided. As soon as your own bet had been placed, there was a thud behind you and you turned to see the group that had been dancing before as punishment had all fallen over unconscious. A smirk appeared on your face as you turned towards the speakers at the front of the dance area. "What'd I say, Joan?" You shouted to the catlike demon, "Less than two hours!" She rolled her eyes at having lost another bet to you but you just grinned and continued enjoying your dance with Alastor. 

With how much fun the two of you were having, you hardly noticed how the hours passed by. With each one, more and more people collapsed onto the floor from exhaustion and Charlie and Vaggie seemed to lose a little more energy. You and Alastor, however, looked like you could have continued your dance for days on end. 

It wasn't until late into the morning that the two sinner girls seemed to have finally lost all their strength and collapsed. The rest of your souls had already done so, leaving only yourself and the Radio Demon still conscious on the dance floor now. Seeing that this little game was over, your steps finally came to a stop and you let go of your best friend as you turned to look at the princess and her girlfriend, who were basically asleep at this point. 

"Why, I haven't had such an enjoyable workout in years!" Alastor exclaimed, repositioning his bowtie. You grinned.

"I guess you'd better come around here more often, then." You told him, "That was a warm-up by our standards." The rest of your souls, which had recovered a bit from their exhaustion now, all turned their attention towards Charlie and Vaggie; still laying on the ground. 

"They made it through the entire night!" One demon exclaimed in surprise, "The only other people who can do that are boss and their friends!" You smiled.

"Indeed!" You told the group, coming over to kneel next to the princess, "This is Princess Charlie Morningstar, and she participated in our dancing tonight in the hopes that you all might be willing to help her fight and defend her hotel against the angels in this upcoming extermination. What do you think?"

There was brief moment of silence as Alastor came to stand by your side once more. Then, another sinner piped up.

"Would you allow us to assist her, boss?"

"Of course!" You replied happily, causing the rest of the crowd to finally erupt into cheers. "Shall I take that as a yes then?" There were more cheers and you now knew Charlie had successfully gotten them on her side.

"They're all yours, your highness." You told her with a dramatic bow, "Please do your best to take good care of them." Charlie had practically fallen asleep at this point but nodded from her place on the floor anyway. Your smile widened. 

"I assure you, we will take good care of your people." Alastor spoke from next to you.

"I know, Al." You told him, gently bumping his own shoulder with your own. "You always do. Now, how about we have you try on the clothes I made you for the gala? I'm telling you; I outdid myself this time!" The Radio Demon nodded, following you towards the boutique as Joan went over to pick Charlie and Vaggie up off the ground. 

"You always do, darling!" Alastor replied with a smile even wider than you thought was possible, "I'm just glad we had the chance to catch up again this fine day!"

"Me too."
